TMZ reports that the FBI contacted the family of Joycelyn Savage, one of R. Kelly's alleged victims, in the weeks prior to the release of Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Sources close to the family say that Joycelyn's father Timothy provided the FBI with everything he knew regarding the whereabouts of his daughter and R. Kelly, who he says has brainwashed his daughter as one of his "sex slaves."
The information he gave to the FBI is reportedly similar to what he said on Surviving R. Kelly, although it's not clear if the FBI has ever launched an investigation into the litany of allegations against R. Kelly. It is worth pointing out, however, that he is under criminal investigation in the state of Georgia.
Joycelyn's family has said on numerous occasions that they believe Kelly is holding her against her will, although she's reportedly denied such claims. The last time they were seen in public together was April 2018, although she was later spotted in Beverly Hills in May on her own. On Thursday, photos of the studio where R. Kelly allegedly housed his rumored "sex cult" surfaced online.
The fallout has been swift since the airing of Surviving R. Kelly, with many celebrities taking the time to distance themselves from the disgraced singer. Lady Gaga and Celine Dion are among those who removed their collaborative tracks with Kelly from streaming services. Kelly's record label Sony Music, meanwhile, has parted ways with him.
