Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner for Health in the state, disclosed that the new cases are nationals from Poland, Ukraine while the others were Nigerians.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle, Abayomi said out of the new cases six were discovered on a vessel.
With the 12 new cases, the toll of the state now rises to 44, the Commissioner said.
He tweeted: “#COVID19Lagos Updates Lagos confirms12 new cases of #COVID19
“#COVID19Lagos cases rises to 44 as @ 8.39 pm on 26th March 2020.
“6 of the 12 new cases were discovered on a vessel and they include 2 foreign nationals; Polish, and Ukrainian, with other 4 Nigerians.
“The 6 other cases are Nigerians. The response team of @followlasg #COVID19 is tracking to ensure those involved are subjected to relevant procedures to avoid the spread of the infection.”
Recall that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, had yesterday announced fourteen new cases of Coronavirus across the country.
The Centre made the announcement via its official Twitter handle on Thursday.
It said the new case were confirmed in Lagos with 12 and Abuja 2.
